Background: Unlike spatulas and other types of brain retractors, brain retractors with tubular or conical design maintain a uniform concentric separation of brain tissue, which minimizes surgical trauma. We have carried out this work with the aim of exemplifying the advantages of this technique through a small series of patients. Method: A observational cross-sectional descriptive study of a series was carried out that corresponded to the total of patients operated on at the Talca Regional Hospital, Maule region, Chile, in which tubular brain retractors (neuroendoview plus system) were used, during the period from January 1, 2020 to March 1, 2021. Results: Eight patients were operated on. Malignant intracranial neoplasms were diagnosed in six of them and spontaneous intracerebral hematomas in two. Conclusions: Brain tubular retractors can be used safely, effectively and with less collateral damage to brain tissue during the resection of deep brain lesions that require a transcerebral approach.
